I don't know where I read this but it struck me as good advice.
The Bidding has gone 1NT- 3NT or 1NT-2NT-3NT
What do you lead?.
Fourth highest, top of a sequence etc? Of course you do, but:
What if you pick up this inspiring lot.

Follow the maxim - If in doubt, lead a Spade. This works on the assumption that Declarer didn't open Spades and Dummy didn't enquire by Stayman. Most players (I stress "most", not all) look for a Major suit fit if one exists, before settling on No Trumps.Therefore there is a strong possibility that Partner has Spades and of course the balance of the points for entries.Nothing is certain of course, Declarer could have 4 Spades, even 5 sometimes but remember this - if nothing else is attractive , after these sort of auctions- Lead Spades.
