Roman Keycard Blackwood

This is an Ace asking sequence requiring responder to show how many of the 5 keycards he/she holds when the fifth Ace is the King of Trumps
As with many conventions you will find that the basic bids are the same but there are variations to the follow up sequences.
This is how I understand it

The asking bid is 4NT and if there is any doubt about the agreed trump suit it is usual to respond in relation to the last naturally bid suit.

    5 ♣ = 0 or 3 of the 5 keycards

    5 = 1 or 4

    5 = 2 without the Queen of Trumps

    5 ♠ = 2 with Queen of Trumps

    When trumps are not Spades and therefore the auction is forced to the 6 level by a 5 ♠ response

    5 ♠ shows 2 Aces. Queen of Trumps and no outside King below the Trump suit.

    6 ♣ shows 2 Aces, Queen of Trumps and the King of Clubs

    6shows 2 Aces, Queen of Trumps and the King of Diamonds

    After any reply at the 5 level, 5NT from enquirer confirms all Aces held and asks for Kings, not counting the King of Trumps.

  1. A bid of the next suit , when not the Trump suit, after a response to 4NT, asks for the Queen of Trumps
    Responder bids one up without and two up with or if the reply would force the auction to the 6 level anyway a response of 6 of a suit below the agreed Trump suit would confirm holding the Queen and the relevant King and a reply of 5NT would show the Queen but no outside King

  2. Complicated? Not really. If you remember the start is 03-14-2 (3.142 =Pi) a moments thought will bring the answer to any other bids.
